US: American, US adjust merger timeline for trial

In response to a set trial schedule, American Airlines and US Airways have extended their merger deadline by about a month, say reports.

    The airlines, looking to merge and become the world’s largest, extended the deadline for either to call off the deal to January 18, 2014. The original date was set for December 17 of this year.

    The lawsuit filed by the US Department of Justice to block the buyout is scheduled for November 25. Reports say the merger deadline was pushed back to allow time for the trial to run its course.
