US: As FTC mulls Office Depot, OfficeMax merger, new management sought

Office supply chains Office Depot and OfficeMax, who have planned to merge, have announced that the Federal Trade Commission has requested additional information about the acquisition as it reviews the deal. In the meantime, the parties have also announced that they have created a board committee to find the combined entity’s next CEO; in addition to third party candidates, the committee will consider the current Office Depot and OfficeMax CEOs for election. The two companies announced their plans on February 20 and have stated that the FTC’s request for additional information was expected.
