US: Bazaarvoice chairman has harsh words for DOJ lawsuit

 |  October 8, 2013

In recalling his deposition, Bazaarvoice chairman Tom Meredith says he described the US Department of Justice’s lawsuit against its merger as “B.S.,” a shot taken against the regulator for blocking the company’s acquisition with PowerReviews.

The deal made for more than $168 million in June of last year was attacked by the DOJ as anticompetitive and went to trial last month.

Meredith reportedly testified that the DOJ’s worries over the merger were “ludicrous,” and that a merger within the tech reviews and ratings market could not impact prices in such a young sector.

Reports say the trial is on schedule to finalize next week.
