Reports said Tuesday that the company UniStrip, which manufacturers test strips for blood glucose meters, has sued a maker of those meters for antitrust violations.
UniStrip filed the case against LifeScan, which makes the OneTouch Ultra blood glucose meter, on claims of anticompetitive behavior. The lawsuit accuses LifeScan of unfairly blocking rebates , marketing funds and other incentives offered by UniStrip.
Specifically, say reports, LifeScan barred wholesalers and retailers from offering such incentives in selling the UniStrip1 product.
UniStrip claims LifeScan is attempting to bar UniStrip from the market and that, among the anticompetitive behaviors, LifeScan offered contracts that offered incentives for distributors that refused to sell UniStrip products.
A press release did not include any comment from LifeScan regarding the lawsuit.
