US: Business man charged in bid-rigging scheme against Con Edison

A businessman from Staten Island has been sentenced to 32 months in federal prison for paying bribes and trying to defraud Con Edison in a bid-rigging scheme, authorities said.

    Andrew Martingano, who owned American Pipe Bending and Fabrication Co. Inc. in Edison, N.J., is also on the hook, along with the company and other conspirators, to pay more than $1.6 million in restitution to the utility, said authorities.

    American Pipe Bending was also fined $150,000.

    The conspiracy occurred between January 2009 and August 2010, said the U.S. Justice Department.
