US: Dish enters the running for T-Mobile

 |  September 7, 2014

Dish Network is reportedly in discussions with T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom for a possible acquisition, according to unnamed sources.

Reports say Dish is considering a buyout of the US’s fourth-place wireless company, which has been a target of several possible bidding plans after its closest rival Sprint decided to end its pursuit of the company.

Since, France’s Iliad has also expressed interest in T-Mobile.

Dish has not yet placed a formal bid for the company, sources said, but that Dish would consider merger discussions in the coming months.

Dish stands as the nation’s second-largest satellite television provider. The company is reportedly waiting until after a federal spectrum auction, planned for later this year, to more seriously focus on a T-Mobile deal.

Sources say that a possible deal between Dish and T-Mobile has been discussed by the companies for several years now.
