US: DOJ approves $6B gas tie-up

Kodiak Oil & Gas announced Thursday that it has received early termination of the Department of Justice’s review of the company’s proposed merger with Whiting Petroleum, say reports.

    Whiting will acquire Kodiak for $6 billion, a transaction first announced last month The companies said they expect to finalize the deal by the end of the year.

    With the DOJ’s approval, the merger will still need to obtain clearance from both companies’ shareholders.
