US/EU: AT&T reveals requirements for EU telco purchases

The head of US wireless giant AT&T told reporters that the company would consider buying assets in the European telecommunications market it they were priced right, though declined to name specific targets for potential buyouts.

    Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference, AT&T chief executive Randall Stephenson said that following the implementation of major overhauls to unify the EU telco market, new policies will likely promote investment in the region “over time.”

    Stephenson said EU telco operators were far behind their US counterparts when it comes to wireless broadband investments, though said he expects that to change with the regulatory overhauls.
