Gibson Dunn & Crutcher announced that it has hired Patrick Stokes, the senior deputy chief of the fraud section in the Justice Department’s criminal division.
Stokes joins Gibson Dunn in the Washington, DC office as a partner.
He worked with the DOJ since 2008 and between 2014 and March of 2016 he was the chief of the FCPA unit.
Among his notable FCPA cases, Stokes handled the 2011 prosecution and conviction of Lee Bentley Farkas, former chairman of mortgage lender Taylor, Bean & Whitaker, for an alleged $2.9 billion fraud scheme, according to Compliance Week.
He was also involved in the 2013 re-sentencing of former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling.
In March, Stokes was promoted to his leadership post where he was to work under the section’s fraud chief Andrew Weissman.
