Jury selection is underway in a federal trial pitting Health First against a group of competitors that allege the hospital provider operates a monopoly in southern Brevard County.
The trial began this morning before US District Judge Roy Dalton Jr. in Courtroom 4A at the federal courthouse in downtown Orlando.
Opening statements will likely occur this afternoon after a nine-member jury is seated. Court resumes at 1:30 p.m. after a lunch break.
In a summary, Dalton told the pool of potential jurors the case deals with business practices among medical providers in southern Brevard County.
The plaintiffs include Omni Health Care, Interventional Spine Institute of Florida, six doctors and a physician’s assistant.
