Jones Day said it had recruited a new partner, formerly of Shearman & Sterling and Bingham McCutchen, to its financial institutions litigation and regulation practice in San Francisco.
For the past three decades, Stephen Hibbard has handled securities class actions, mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial cases, corporate governance disputes and antitrust matters, according to Jones Day’s statement.
Jay Tambe, who is a partner in Jones Day’s New York office and co-leads the firm’s FILR practice, praised Hibbard in Wednesday’s statement.
“Steve is a highly accomplished lawyer with a wide range of experience helping financial institutions respond to litigation, assess legal risks related to financial products and transactions, and navigate various regulatory inquiries,” Tambe said. “Steve’s experience advising China-based companies will be immediately valuable to a number of our clients who are assessing challenges presented by the recent tumult in emerging markets.”
