Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has reportedly snagged a new mergers and acquisitions partner from Shearman & Sterling.
Peter Lyons had been at Shearman & Sterling for more than three decades, according to reports, but will now joins UK-based Freshfields as an M&A partner at the firm’s global mergers and acquisitions group in New York. The news of Lyons’ new position emerged from unnamed sources this week.
The hiring follows a slew of new hires from Freshfields as the company looks to boost its position in the US, say reports.
Lyons has several notable cases under his belt, including his work representing the special committee of the board of directors of Sprint Nextel in Softbank’s acquisition of about 70 percent of the company.
