US: Merger with CBS not happening says Viacom CEO

Dauman downplayed rumors of possible mergers on Monday. “We have no intention of buying CBS or buying any other big corporations out there,” Viacom Chief Executive Philippe Dauman told investors on Monday. “We are not going to be a consolidator.”

Dauman appeared to be countering the popular belief on Wall Street that the two media companies, which are both controlled by Sumner Redstone’s National Amusements, should merge.
