US: Mobile satellite firm eyes India assets

    Iridium has been looking to break ground in India for several years, reports say, and could soon do so through a deal with BSNL, a state-run telecom conglomerate.

    Reports say BSNL may only be doing business with just one satellite operator, the International Maritime Satellite Organization. While Iridium said it would like to make a deal in India, the US company said because of a lack of competition, a vendor selection process may prove costly and “distorted.”

    BSNL will choose only one satellite operator despite Irigium’s reported interest in working with INMARSAT, say reports.
