US: Movie giants Cinedigm, Demarest forge merger alliance

Film companies Cinedigm and Demearest announced Tuesday that the companies will merge and form a distribution alliance with hopes of strengthening the companies’ independent film acquisition capabilities. Further, the companies will collaborate on marketing, distribution and promotional projects. Cinedigm, the world’s largest digital film distributor, will work with the film and television production company to increase its presence in the independent film industry, according to a press release.
