US: NCAA suit has chance for dismissal next month

The NCAA’s fate may be decided next month as a motion to dismiss an antitrust case against the athletics association will be argued in court. Oral argument is scheduled for May 1 in Pennsylvania. The case has dragged on for several months as allegations against the association accuse the body of exploiting the scandalous Jerry Sandusky child molestation case to gain a competitive advantage for some of its universities; the NCAA has a consent decree with Penn State, which it says is actually helpful to competition within collegiate sports.
