James Donato, from Shearman & Sterling LLP, is one of three individuals who President Barack Obama plans to nominate to serve on the United States District Court. Donato is the nominee for the US District Court for the Northern District of California. According to a White House press release, Donato has been at the firm since 2009, where his practice specializes in antitrust and class action suits. Judge Beth Labson freeman has been nominated to serve on the same court; Jennifer Prescof May-Parker has been nominated to serve on the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
