US: Organic watchdog group seeks to block Danone’s $10B buy

An organic-industry watchdog and activist group is seeking to block Danone SA’s proposed purchase of Colorado’s WhiteWave Foods, saying the takeover would be anticompetitive.

    The Wisconsin-based Cornucopia Institute argues that the proposed tie-up would be harmful to the US organic dairy market.

    WhiteWave produces Horizon Organic dairy products, Silk soy milk, International Delight coffee creamers and Earthbound Farms packaged salads, among other food products. It also sells certain Land O’ Lakes creamer and half-and-half items under license from Land O’ Lakes.
