Qualcomm, a global semiconductor and telecommunications technology provider, has filed a complaint against Apple with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC).
According to the complaint, it is alleged that Apple has imported and sold iPhone units that infringe on one or more claims of six Qualcomm patents.
As a result, Qualcomm has officially requested that the ITC conduct an investigation into Apple’s infringing imports. If successful, the case will then lead to an issuant of a Limited Exclusion Order that would bar importation of Apple’s products into the US and stop the company’s use of Qualcomm’s technology.
In addition to filing a complaint with the ITC, Qualcomm has also filed a complaint against Apple in the US District Court for the Southern District of California.
Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel of Qualcomm, commented: “Qualcomm’s inventions are at the heart of every iPhone and extend well beyond modem technologies or cellular standards.
