US: Sprint and T-Mobile merger talks are still alive

According to The Wall Street Journal’s sources, on Wednesday, November 1, Sprint and T-Mobile’s CEOs met to discuss salvaging the companies’ merger talks. The meeting occurred after a T-Mobile board meeting where directors agreed to renew their overtures to Sprint to keep the deal alive, one of the people said.

    T-Mobile has made a revised offer, which Sprint is considering, some of the people said, though the terms of the new offer were unclear.

    Sprint Chairman Masayoshi Son decided to call off the talks last Friday after determining that Sprint is too important of a strategic asset to give up control.

    The sources said that Sprint’s board discussed the current situation at a meeting on Thursday morning where the primary points were Sprint’s valuation and how much influence Mr. Son will have over the direction of the combined company.
