US: Syngenta chairman says won’t seek to engage Monsanto on deal

Syngenta AG will continue to review its seed portfolio and look for deal opportunities following the abrupt exit of its chief executive but doesn’t plan to engage rival Monsanto takeover talks, Syngenta’s chairman said.

We are focusing on our own issues,” Chairman Michel Demaré said in an interview following the resignation Wednesday of CEO Mike Mack. “This is a time to be open-minded, flexible and ready to jump on opportunities as they come.”
