US: Top natural gas provider to nab Atlas Energy for $7.7B

Targa, one of the US’s largest natural gas providers, announced plans to acquire Atlas Energy and Atlas Pipeline in a $7.7 billion takeover.

    According to a press release, Targa will acquire Atlas Energy and its midstream assets and about $1.8 billion in debts. The deal will remain subject to regulatory scrutiny, and the companies have held a webcast with investors to discuss the deal.

    In a statement, Atlas thanked its employees “for helping build our enterprise over the years and for playing an integral role in our strategic plans.”
