China’s National Development and Reform Commission has reportedly suspended its antitrust investigation into US technology patent group InterDigital after the company offered remedies to the concerns.
Reports say the NDRC announced Thursday that because InterDigital has cooperated with the investigation and offered concessions, the probe has now been halted and regulators are now discussing “specific steps to eliminate the consequences of suspected monopolistic behavior.”
InterDigital’s proposals reportedly include an agreement to end what the NDRC considered discriminatory licensing fees charged to Chinese companies. The company also reportedly agreed to not bundle licenses for both standard patents and non-SEPs, and to not file lawsuits against Chinese firms to require the acceptance of “unreasonable” licensing fees.
The NDRC said it would monitor the implementation of the concessions going forward.
