Colombia: National consortium wins contract for country’s longest bridge

Colombia’s government has announced the results of the public contest which sought to allocate contracts for building a series of infrastructure projects, known as the Yatí-Bodega Road Connection, which will include construction of what will be the country’s longest bridge and will connect the Troncal de Occidente and Ruta del Sol roads, improving transportation in a region that has historically been cut off from road networks.

    The contract, granted on a bid of over 263 bn pesos, was given to the Consorcio Nacional Yatí, a consortium of Colombian construction companies Mincivil SA, HB Estructuras Metálicas SA, Latinco SA and Concrearmado Ltda. With over 12km in length, the project represents one of the largest Government works in the Mojana region, including construction of the Roncador bridge, to be the country’s longest at 2.3 km.

    The contract foresees a 40 month construction period, including 2 months of preparation. 9 different consortiums participated in the bidding, representing 26 companies both from Colombia and abroad.
