Boies Schiller Flexner announced the passing of Donald Flexner, an antitrust lawyer and founding partner of the firm. He was 81 years old and had been ill for some time.
Partner David Boies recalled meeting Flexner as law school classmates more than six decades ago, remembering him as a “giant of the antitrust bar.”
“He was both a rock for his firm, friends, and family, and a hard place for those that wished them ill,” Boies said, Reuters reported.
Flexner’s past clients included AT&T, American Express Company and Chevron Corp. He also previously led the firm as co-managing partner.
Before joining Boies and fellow co-founder Jonathan Schiller to start their firm in 1999, Flexner led the antitrust team at law firm Crowell & Moring and worked in the U.S. Justice Department’s antitrust division.
