Chile: ANFP backs down, will let Barnechea play without entry fee

Chile’s National Association for Professional Soccer (ANFP) has withdrawn from the measure taken months ago to leave the team of Primera B Barnechea out of the league due to the team’s failure to pay the League’s membership fee.

    The ANFP reversed its decision after hearing the resolution reached by the Free Competition Defense Tribunal (TDLC), which ruled in favor of the Santiago-based squad and freed them from their obligation to pay the entrance fee.

    “It’s a resolution that we do not share. However, we are working within the framework of the rule of law. Barnechea will face their opponents for the weekend. These issues must be seen in the institutionality of football. We regret that we had to resort to this” said Andres Fazio, first vice-president of the ANFP, confirming the decision.
