Spain: CNMC probes Industrial Maintenance sector

The National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) has launched a probe looking into possible anticompetitive practices, which may have included manipulation in the distribution of projects tendered by clients, in the market for the provision of assembly-line and industrial maintenance services in various sectors such as petrochemical and energy.

    The Commission clarified that agreements between competitors constitute a very serious infringement of competition law, which may result in fines of up to 10% of the total turnover of infringing undertakings

    The Commission informed that on July 4, 5 and 6, raids were carried out at the headquarters of several companies operating in the aforementioned market, for which the CNMC collaborated with inspectors from regional competition authorities.
