Russia: Settlement likely in Gazprom probe say OIES analysts

The European Commission is likely to accept Gazprom’s commitments in its antitrust case against the Russian monopoly, thus closing the case with a settlement but no fine, a paper released this week by the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) concluded.

    Brussels said in March that it was happy with the remedies proposed by Gazprom to settle the antitrust investigation, which was launched five years ago. But before reaching a final verdict, it asked market participants to submit their opinions through the so-called “market procedure”.
