India: Devender Kumar Sikri appointed Chairman of Competition Commission

On January 7, 2016 former Gujarat cadre IAS officer Devender Kumar Sikri was appointed as the Chairman of fair-trade regulator Competition Commission of India.  Devender Kumar Sikri will succeed Ashok Chawla as the Chairman of Competition Commission of India.

    The tenure of Ashok Chawla as Chairman of Competition Commission of India  ended in January 2016. Ashok Chawla was appointed as the Chairman of Competition Commission of India on October 20, 2011.

    On July 31, 2013 Devender Kumar Sikri retired as Secretary in Department of Justice under Ministry of Law and Justice. He also served as the Secretary in Ministry of Women and Child development.  He served as the Collector of Jamnagar and Rajkot. Devender Kumar Sikri also served as the Registrar General of Census.
