Spain: E-commerce sees rapid growth

Spain’s e-commerce sector has grown at an average of 24.8% in 2014, reaching nearly 16 billion euros. On-year income during the fourth quarter of 2014 grew by 25.8%, while the amount of transactions surpassed 68 million operations, or 24% higher than 2014.

    The greatest winners in this new market have been travel agencies and tour operators, with air travel and clothing close behind. 90% of international e-purchases occur within the EU, with the United States a distant second.

    On the other hand, spanish online sales abroad have themselves grown by 33% over the year, with 73% of sales going to the European Union.
