US: Houston energy companies complete billion-dollar merger

Houston-based C&J Energy Service completed its merger with a business unit of Nabors Industries, creating one of the largest completion and production services providers in North America, the companies said March 24.

    Shareholders approved the deal on March 20. The merger is unusual because C&J acquired Nabors’ production and completion businesses, but Nabors owns 53 percent of the new C&J company as part of an inversion deal.
