The European Commission (EC) is trying to aid the agriculture market with new rules allowing for joint commercialization, and is asking for comments on the new draft guidelines. The EC is attempting to aid farmers by allowing olive oil, beef and veal and arable crops to be jointly commercialized via producer organizations.
This would allow for joint storage, transport and distribution, provided the amount marketed by an organization remains under a certain threshold. National competition authorities were consulted the proposal, and now stakeholders are asked to provide their views and comments before May 5, 2015. The EC will present the various proposals on March 4 to stakeholders, as well as national competition authorities and ministries of agriculture.
