The European Commission has charged Italy-based metal producer Pometon, along with four other companies, for participating in an anticompetitive cartel, say reports.

The Italian firm is suspected of colluding to fix scrap metal surcharges with rivals. The four other firms accused of taking part in the conspiracy are France-based Winoa, Germany-based Metalltechnik Schmidt and Eisenwerk Wurth, and Ervin, which qualified for leniency for being first to approach authorities with evidence of the collusion.
