US: DOJ raises no concerns with $6.2B chemical deal

The US Department of Justice has reportedly cleared plans for Louisiana-based chemical manufacturer Albemarle to acquire New Jersey rival Rockwood Holdings.

    Albemarle said that its $6.2 billion acquisition was approved after the DOJ’s waiting period to review the deal expired.

    The chemical competitors announced last July that Albemarle would be the technical acquirer of Rockwood; the companies expect to finalize the merger in the first quarter of next year.
