US: Man who coined ‘net neutrality’ runs for NY lieutenant governor

    Wu has built his platform to focus on net neutrality, reports say, and the importance of antitrust law to reign in dominant companies. Wu will run alongside Fordham law professor Zephyr Teachout, who is running for governor.

    ”We think antitrust policy is important,” Wu said in an interview with Buzzfeed when the two announced their campaign. “it used to be Standard Oil…now it’s Comcast.”

    Wu is a well-known advocate of net neutrality and “equality in the public sphere,” as he explained in a recent New Yorker column.

    Reports say along with advocating for net neutrality, Wu is also championing stricter merger rules that would be aimed at Comcast, which recently announced plains to acquire Time Warner Cable.
