A businessman from Illinois has been sentenced to one year and four months in prison after being found guilty of a $1 million bid-rigging scheme, say reports.
Barrett Rochman was sentenced Tuesday by US District Judge David Herndon; in addition to prison time, recommended by federal officials, the executive has also been ordered to pay a $30,000 fine.
Rochman is reportedly the fourth individual sentenced to prison for the bid-rigging scheme, which was spearheaded by former Madison County Treasurer Fred Bathon. Bathon reportedly inflated tax rates for struggling homeowners between 2005 and 2008 by letting tax buyers hike costs in exchange for campaign contributions.
