Germany: Lufthansa prepares joint venture for 2015

Germany airline Lufthansa is reportedly planning to commence a joint venture between its cargo freight operations and another airline by 2015.

    The nation’s largest airliner announced Tuesday it would like to set up a cargo partnership to increase the number of shipping routes over which it operates, while cutting costs.

    Reports say shipping airlines are looking for new ways to cut costs as they face new competition from passenger airlines that also carry cargo. While Lufthansa did not mention which specific companies with which it would like to form a joint venture, reports say Middle Eastern airlines are quickly expanding their routes.
