Pakistan: Telco watchdog sets deadline for 3G auction

Pakistan’s telecommunications regulator announced a tentative timeline for its upcoming 3G spectrum auction, announcing that the bidding is set to conclude by the 3rd week of March.

    Reports say telco authorities are also continuing their process of updating industry policies, currently in progress at the Ministry of IT.

    As the auction planning continues, reports say regulators are currently working with consultants to publish the Information Memorandum for spectrum bidders as the government looks to boost competition within new technologies in the industry.

    Further, reports say, authorities are in talks with foreign operators as potential new entrants into the market through the 3G auction.
