Following the UK Competition Commission’s ruling last week that two major healthcare groups will be required to sell off hospitals, reports say one of those groups is fighting back.
HCA International, which was ordered to sell two major hospitals, is slamming the Commission’s ruling, calling it “plainly wrong” and arguing that there is plenty of competition in the healthcare market in the greater London area.
HCA issued a public statement on the Commission’s decision, which followed an in-depth probe into the healthcare industry; the ruling also ordered BMI to divest seven hospitals across the UK in efforts to break the market dominance of both BMI and HCA.
