UK: Royal Mail facing probe, fine after missed Ofcom target

After the UK’s Royal Mail missed communications regulator Ofcom’s service quality targets, reports say the company is now facing an investigation by the authority and even possible fines.

    Ofcom had set a target of a 93 percent First Class next-day delivery rate for the year, but the company reported that delivery rate to be 91.7 percent. Ofcom said in a statement it will now consider opening an investigation into the 360-year-old postal service should it miss its targets again.

    In response, Royal Mail said it was “disappointed” it had missed its targets.
