Sixty-six Democratic congressmen have reportedly encouraged the US Department of Justice to drop its lawsuit against American Airlines and US Airways over their proposed merger.
The lawmakers sent a letter to President Obama and the Attorney General’s Office in favor of abandoning the lawsuit for fear of the job security for the thousands of employees at the airlines, say reports.
The letter was sent last Tuesday in favor of the merger, which would create the world’s largest airline, claiming it is “good for our local economy, good for consumers, good for competition and should be approved.” The words were penned by Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX).
