US: FTC chooses newest Director of its Bureau of Economics

The US Federal Trade Commission announced Tuesday the appointment of Martin Gaynor as Director to the regulator’s Economics Bureau, a division of the FTC that acts as an economic advisor to antitrust cases.

    Gaynor, who comes to the FTC from Carnegie Mellon University, described the appointment as “an honor.”

    According to his university biography, Gaynor has worked on healthcare policy issues with the FTC as well as the Department of Justice.

    Gaynor will replace former Director of the Bureau of Economics Howard Shelanski.
