South Korea: GrainCorp buyout cleared, China remains ADM’s last hurdle

Chinese competition regulators remain the only hurdle left in the way of ADM’s buyout of GrainCorp following the news officials in South Korea have approved of the deal. Seven competition regulators have cleared the deal including the European Commission, the US Federal Trade Commissions and officials in Japan, South Africa, Canada, and Australia. Chinese antitrust authorities have become known by some experts as taking particularly longer than international counterparts to clear deals.
