Zambia: Competition watchdog carries out first-ever dawn raids since 2010 law

Since the passing of the Competition and Consumer Act of 2010, Zambia’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission conducted its first dawn raids in its right against anticompetitive behavior in the country. Reports say the CCPC searched fertilizer supply companies in part of its probe of the industry. The searches may provide a warning to other companies, say reports, that the 2010 legislation gives the CCPC sole power to conduct such search-and-seizure operations to fight cartels and other anticompetitive practices.
