Shareholders approved of a planned merger between tractor manufacturer Fiat Industrial and its US division CNH Tuesday in a deal some say could open the doors for a merger between automobile companies Fiat and Chrysler. Reports say Italian firms are looking to invest abroad to make up for a flat domestic market; Italy is currently in the midst of a two-year long recession. Now, Fiat Industrial is looking to expand its truck brand Iveco into the US and to swoop-in on an opportunity left when CNH cut ties wit Japan firm Kobelco.
