Canada/US: Verizon mulls deal to enter Canadian market

The US’s largest wireless carrier, Verizon, is reportedly considering a buyout of Canada-based Wind Mobile, in a move that would have Verizon enter the Canadian market for the first time. Wind, which is one of the smaller wireless competitors in the nation, would act as a “springboard,” say reports, for Verizon to become the fourth-largest carrier in Canada. The nation’s political agenda had recently focused to allow more leniency in foreign ownership laws for the wireless sector.
