Afghanistan/Pakistan: Afghanistan gets help in developing competition policy

The Competition Commission of Pakistan has announced that the regulator offered training of competition law to various government officials of Afghanistan, including those within the nation’s Ministry of Commerce and Industries, the Investment and Reconstruction Task Force and the Competition and Consumer Protection Directorate. According to the CCP, the training centered on consumer protection and competition policy and was part of a two-day workshop, organized by the US Department of Commerce, as the first regional training of competition policy ever. In opening remarks of the training, officials commended the efforts as part of Afghanistan’s move to modernize its competition policy.
