US: DOJ, United Tech find middle ground on $18.4B buyout

A US district judge has settled a dispute between the US Department of Justice and United Technologies Corp. over the tech giant’s buyout of Goodrich Corp., which specializes in aerospace-parts manufacturing. According to reports, the federal judge approved of a settlement that sees the acquisition approved by federal regulators with UTC’s divestment of some of the assets acquired by Goodrich. The deal is set for $18.4 billion. Specifically, UTC will divest electrical power systems and aircraft engine control systems manufacturing productions. The DOJ first expressed concern over the merger last year.
