US: Discounts for consumers trickle in after e-books settlements

As the controversy looms for Apple Inc. in the longstanding e-books’ price-fixing case, in which all e-book publishers have settled, Macmillan has started to see their products discounted. After settling with the US Department of Justice, Macmillan will no longer have their products on online retailers with the “This price was set by the publisher” disclaimer where pricing is located. Penguin has yet to see its products discounted. So far, Macmillan’s books have been marked down by up to as much as a few dollars.
