The Office of Fair Trading has published elaborations on its role concerning National Health Service mergers, especially how those mergers will be reviewed under the Enterprise Act 2002. According to the OFT, the publishing of the clarifications is in an effort to offer clarity for NHS trusts and foundation trusts, as well as their advisors. OFT has said that the authority will continue to work with Monitor, which regulates the healthcare market; Monitor will be a source of advice for the OFT when reviewing mergers concerning foundation trusts and trusts of the NHS.
